On July 18, 2024, starting at 9 PM, the Tourist Board of Vodnjan is organizing a jazz concert in the courtyard of the Church of St. Just in Galižana. After the concert in Park kažuna, this event is intended for jazz music lovers who want to enjoy a unique ambiance.
The Church of St. Just, a three-nave Romanesque basilica from the 12th or 13th century, renovated in 1400, is located on the edge of Galižana, near the local cemetery. Once surrounded by the cemetery, it still preserves tombstones. The interior of the church has retained its Romanesque structure with an elevated sanctuary. The church is one meter lower than the level of the road passing by it, but at the same level as its courtyard. The capitals and columns that divide the naves are different from each other. The church houses three altars, the one in the apse, made in Baroque style, is dedicated to St. Just, with a statue of the saint in the center. The Romanesque interior of the church radiates a strong spiritual charge similar to that in St. Foška (Batvači).
In this ambiance of the church courtyard, top musicians will perform: Sebastian Stell on drums, Branko Sterpin on trumpet, Srđan Kuzmanović on double bass, Andrea Rojnić on keyboards, and Sonja Domitrović on vocals and alto saxophone.
Visitors will be able to enjoy famous jazz compositions and will have the opportunity to view the interior of the Church of St. Just. Parking is available at the Galižana cemetery, and entrance to the concert is free.
We warmly invite you to join us at this event and enjoy the music and historical beauty of Galižana.
Creation time: 16 July, 2024
