Croatian tourism entered the main summer part of the year with positive trends and tourism traffic results. According to the eVisitor system, from January to the end of June, over 7.2 million arrivals and 28.1 million overnight stays were achieved. Compared to the same period last year, this represents an increase of 6 percent in arrivals and 2 percent in overnight stays.
On the Adriatic coast, 25.8 million overnight stays were achieved, which is 2 percent more than last year. The continental part of Croatia recorded over 1.1 million overnight stays, representing a 7 percent increase. In Zagreb, 1.2 million overnight stays were achieved, which is an 8 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
„Positive results in the first part of the year confirm that Croatia is profiling itself as a year-round tourist destination. We offer guests more and more content outside the summer months. Financial indicators follow physical results, with 24.61 percent higher revenues from foreign tourists in the first quarter compared to last year. In the first six months, there was also a 6.5 percent increase in fiscalized invoices. The new investment cycle, along with record funds from European funds and the state budget, will further raise the quality of the offer. We believe that Croatia will achieve even better results throughout the year and in all parts of the country. I thank the entire tourism sector for the achievements so far. The most intense months of the year are ahead of us, and I believe we will continue with the positive trend,“ said Tonči Glavina, Minister of Tourism and Sports.
The first part of the tourist year brought the most overnight stays in Istria (8.4 million), Split-Dalmatia County (5 million), and Kvarner (4.4 million). According to destinations, the most overnight stays were achieved in Dubrovnik, Rovinj, Zagreb, Split, Poreč, Umag, and Zadar.
„In sports jargon, the Croatian tourism sector had an excellent first half. We enter the continuation of the tourist year with great optimism. Very intense summer months are ahead of us, and currently, over 700 thousand tourists are staying in the country daily. We expect this number to soon exceed one million guests per day, confirming the high occupancy of accommodation capacities. I invite all tourism workers to continue their dedicated and quality work to leave positive impressions on guests. Only a satisfied guest returns to the destination,“ said Kristjan Staničić, Director of the Croatian National Tourist Board.
During the first six months, most overnight stays were achieved by guests from Germany (5.7 million) and domestic guests (3.7 million), followed by the markets of Slovenia (2.7 million), Austria (2.6 million), Poland (1.8 million), and the UK (1.3 million). According to the type of accommodation, most overnight stays were achieved in hotels (9.2 million), household facilities (over 8 million), and camps (5.5 million).
