The Croatian National Tourist Board ceremoniously marked 25 years of operation in America, successfully promoting Croatia as a premier tourist destination for visitors from this important market. At the event held at the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia in Washington D.C., participants were introduced to the rich cultural heritage and Croatian legacy. The event attracted more than 60 travel agents, media representatives, and key stakeholders.
All attendees were welcomed by Pjer Šimunović, the Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia to the United States of America, emphasizing the importance of the strong bond between Croatia and the USA and the growing number of American visitors exploring Croatian culture, natural beauty, and historical heritage. Leila Krešić-Jurić, the Director of the HTZ Office in the USA, was also present at the event.
“Our mission has always been to highlight Croatia's rich heritage and stunning landscapes to American travelers and introduce them to authentic dishes and wines from various regions of Croatia. We are proud of our achievements and look forward to continuing to inspire Americans to discover the unique and diverse offerings of our country,” said Krešić-Jurić.
Over the past 25 years, the number of visitors from the USA to Croatia has significantly increased. From modest beginnings, the number of American tourists reached over 700,000 arrivals in 2023, representing a 33% increase from the previous year, and more than 2,000,000 overnight stays, an increase of 22%. So far this year, American tourists have achieved a 7% increase in arrivals and a 4% increase in overnight stays compared to last year.
