Prime Minister Andrej Plenković visited the new headquarters of the Croatian Olympic Committee in Zagreb, where he discussed the preparations of Croatian athletes for the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris with the hosts, HOO President Zlatko Mateša and Secretary General Siniša Krajač.
Accompanying the Prime Minister were Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Spatial Planning, Construction and State Property Branko Bačić, Minister of Tourism and Sports Tonči Glavina, Minister of Health Vili Beroš, and Minister of Science, Education and Youth Radovan Fuchs.
Support from the Government and Relevant Ministries
HOO President Zlatko Mateša emphasized the important role of the relevant ministry and the Government in the preparatory activities for the Olympic Games in Paris and in the purchase of new premises for the HOO headquarters, after HOO was forced to look for new space due to the renovation of the Dom Sportova.
HOO directors Damir Šegota and Ranko Ćetković informed the Prime Minister about the composition of the Croatian delegation for the Olympic Games in Paris. Croatia will be represented by 73 athletes from 16 different sports, with a total of 157 delegation members. They also presented the project of the Croatian House at the Olympic Games, which will serve as a link between the Croatian and French economies and a gathering place for Croats in Paris.
Support for Sports
Prime Minister Plenković wished success to Croatian athletes in the upcoming competitions and confirmed his attendance at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games and his visit to the Croatian House.
Minister of Tourism and Sports Tonči Glavina stated that the Government's support for athletes includes a recent decision to increase rewards for outstanding sports achievements by 50 percent. Thus, gold medalists in Paris will receive 41,000 euros each.
