The City of Gospić, the Tourist Board of the City of Gospić, and the Museum of Lika Gospić will celebrate Nikola Tesla's 168th birthday this year with a special event, Tesla Power of Lights.

On Tesla's birthday, July 10, 2024, everyone interested will be able to enjoy a diverse program starting in Tesla's birthplace, Smiljan (MC Nikola Tesla) at 12:00 PM with a round table titled "Tesla's Tower to Humanity." This round table will gather experts from various fields who will discuss Tesla's contributions to science and technology and his visions for the future. Also, in Smiljan, starting at 9:30 PM, there will be a performance of "Tesla - Full Circle" produced by the Puppet Factory Zagreb in collaboration with the Nikola Tesla Network Association. This performance will depict key moments from Tesla's life, his struggle with Edison, and his contributions to the modern world.
Concert of Giuliano and Diktatori
Starting at 8:30 PM on Stjepan Radić Square, the Tesla Power of Lights show will begin, during which all buildings in Gospić associated with Nikola Tesla will be illuminated. Visitors will enjoy a light laser show, water wall projections, a rich culinary offer, and a concert by Giuliano & Diktatori. This concert will be a special opportunity for all music lovers to enjoy live performances in a unique setting. Organizers have also ensured special content for children, including the NEON playground – a children's park and a glow wall playground. These playgrounds will be equipped with special light effects creating a magical environment for the youngest visitors.
Rimac's Nevera is coming to Gospić
The main attraction of this year's "Tesla Power of Lights" event will be the Rimac Nevera, the world's first series-produced electric hypercar. This car, with 1914 horsepower, the fastest acceleration among today's produced cars – 0 to 100 km/h in less than two seconds and 0 to 300 km/h in just 9.3 seconds, will be on display at Nikola Tesla Square from 5:00 PM to 11:00 PM. This incredible vehicle, a product of Croatian innovation and engineering knowledge, will be the central attraction of the event. In the evening, Rimac's Nevera will be appropriately illuminated, and all interested will be able to see it live and take photos with this marvel of Croatian production. Additionally, experts from Rimac Automobili will give short presentations about the technological innovations behind this vehicle, providing visitors with a deeper insight into the world of electric hypercars.

If you miss the events on Nikola Tesla's actual birthday, on Thursday, July 11, 2024, you will have the opportunity to walk with Nikola Tesla through the City of Gospić and visit all the locations where he worked or lived, and visit the place where he conceived and implemented his first invention. This walk will be led by local historians who will provide rich context about Tesla's life and work. Visitors will learn more about the history of Gospić and Tesla's childhood spent in this city. Additionally, workshops for children and youth will be organized where they can make simple electronic devices inspired by Tesla's inventions. These workshops aim to spark interest in science and technology among the younger population and inspire future generations of inventors and innovators.
