At the Logistics Training and Doctrine Center in Požega, from September 2 to 6, 2024, a specialized training for MRAP (Mine Resistant Ambush Protected) MaxxPro Plus vehicle drivers was held. These vehicles, primarily developed to protect military personnel from mines and improvised explosive devices (IEDs), are used in numerous missions around the world due to their ability to provide a high level of crew protection.
The MaxxPro vehicles are extremely important in the modern military context, as they are designed to withstand ballistic attacks and explosions, with a special "V" shaped hull that deflects explosive force away from the vehicle, reducing the risk to drivers and passengers. The training in Požega covered all key aspects of driving and maintaining this vehicle, as well as procedures in crisis situations. Participants were trained to manage safely under various conditions, including difficult terrain, which is crucial for participating in high-risk missions.
The training for MaxxPro Plus drivers included simulations of real-life situations to ensure that drivers are prepared to respond to emergencies. Special attention was given to driving techniques in harsh conditions and the vehicle's ability to withstand mine or explosive device impacts, making it a key asset for missions in dangerous zones like Afghanistan and other conflict areas. Successfully completing the training, eleven members of the Croatian Army acquired the necessary skills to operate these demanding vehicles.
Participants praised the training for its comprehensiveness and relevance to real field conditions. According to Slaven Topić, a member of the Guard Armored Mechanized Brigade, the training was challenging but extremely useful for their operational knowledge. They were trained for all necessary actions, from vehicle maintenance to special situations involving explosive threats.
At the end of the training, Sergeant Mario Mihić congratulated all participants on their successful completion of this complex training and presented them with certificates of competence. Such training programs are crucial for the safety of military operations and operational readiness, especially in international missions where MRAP vehicles often serve as the first line of defense against mines and ambushes.
