The Command of the Special Forces of the Croatian Army and the Special Unit of the US Armed Forces conducted a joint military exercise and exchange of experiences called Joint Combined Exchange Training (JCET) in Udbina during July 2024.
This year, the focus was on Special Reconnaissance (SR), one of the key tasks of special operations. The activities were divided into two phases, allowing thorough training and practical application of learned tactics.
In the first phase, members of the special forces from Croatia and the US collaborated on small unit tactics and live fire exercises, improving their skills and mutual coordination. The second phase focused on the integration of Special Operations Forces (SOLTG), a purpose-organized group that simulated real operational conditions.
Since the 1970s, US special forces have conducted such training to prepare for potential operations in assigned areas and to develop strong relationships with local allied forces. These activities contribute to increased interoperability and allow the exchange of valuable experiences among allies.
This year's exercise also included members of other branches of the Croatian Armed Forces, which further contributed to the comprehensiveness of the training. Activities included simulations of various scenarios, allowing participants to test their reactions and adaptability in conditions similar to real operations.
In addition to military training, participants had the opportunity to exchange knowledge about the latest technologies and methods used in special operations. Thus, Croatian and US soldiers improved their capabilities and established deeper cooperation.
The implementation of such exercises has multiple benefits, including strengthening security capacities, improving tactical abilities, and building mutual trust among allies. Croatia and the US continue to invest in joint military activities that ensure the readiness and effectiveness of their special forces.
Such initiatives also help promote international cooperation and stability, as they allow soldiers from different countries to work and learn together. This creates stronger alliances and ensures better preparedness for future security challenges.
Through such programs, soldiers gain invaluable experiences that help them in their professional development and preparation for complex operations. Joint training like JCET is crucial for maintaining high standards and operational readiness of special forces.
