Joint flying activities of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Croatia and the United States of America in September 2024 represent a crucial step in strengthening the operational capabilities of both armies, with a special emphasis on practicing search and rescue procedures and increasing interoperability. These exercises, which will last from September 9 to September 20, will take place in the areas of Istria County, Kvarner, and the military range "Eugen Kvaternik" near Slunj. Although the focus is on ensuring efficiency in emergency situations, citizens should be aware of the increased noise levels due to low-flying helicopters and planes.

Different aircraft will participate in the exercises, including Croatian Air Force UH-60M Black Hawk and Mi-171Sh helicopters, as well as the American HH-60G Pave Hawk. Additionally, the HC-130J Hercules aircraft from the New York National Guard will also play a key role in conducting operations. These aircraft will be based at several strategic locations, such as the "Croatian Defenders of Istria" barracks in Pula and the "Colonel Mirko Vukušić" barracks in Zemunik Donji.

One of the main goals of these exercises is the exchange of experiences between the two armies in search and rescue areas, particularly at sea, which includes simulations of crisis situations requiring coordination between air and naval forces. Such exercises help enhance the security and readiness of both countries while contributing to the modernization of the Croatian Air Force in cooperation with American partners.

Flying activities are expected to last throughout the day, with night flights concluding by 11:00 PM, excluding weekends. Although citizens near military bases and airports such as Pula and Zemunik may experience some noise, it is important to note that these exercises are crucial for maintaining security and readiness at the NATO alliance level. The Ministry of Defense appeals for understanding and patience from citizens during these activities.

Broader, these exercises are part of ongoing efforts by the Croatian Armed Forces to improve their capabilities in cooperation with NATO. Additionally, this type of military exercise is part of a broader plan to increase security in the region, including exercises such as "SAVA STAR 24," which takes place in September 2024, involving British and Croatian forces to enhance defensive capabilities. These exercises allow military personnel to adapt to new technologies and tactics necessary for successful operations in modern warfare conditions.
