During the upcoming week, Croatian Air Force (HRZ) plans to conduct a series of extensive flight exercises using combat aircraft Rafale, which will cover both daytime and nighttime flights over a large part of Croatia. The goal of these flights is to maintain high operational readiness of the pilots and their ability to operate under various conditions, including nighttime operations, which require a high level of precision and preparation.
The training of Croatian pilots is conducted in accordance with the highest international standards. Given the complexity of flying in nighttime conditions, these exercises allow for an increase in safety and operational efficiency in the event of potential crisis situations. Rafale aircraft, which are among the most technologically advanced combat aircraft, provide Croatia with a significant advantage in protecting the national airspace.
Pilots from the 191st Squadron of HRZ have sent a message to Croatian citizens, emphasizing the importance of these flight activities for the security of the country. "Dear citizens, flying in nighttime conditions is extremely demanding, but thanks to continuous training and preparation, we are able to ensure peace and safety for all of you. When you hear the sound of our engines at night, know that we, the Knights, are here to protect you!" the pilots said.
Increased noise and breaking the sound barrier
The flight activities are planned at several times, including the evening hours. Specifically, on Monday, September 9th and Tuesday, September 10th, 2024, flights will take place between 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM, while nighttime flights are scheduled from 9:00 PM to 11:00 PM. During these flights, breaking the sound barrier is possible, especially over the areas of Zagreb, Lika, Slavonia, and coastal regions like Istria and Zadar.
Additionally, throughout the week, there will be daytime flight activities from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. The Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Croatia apologizes in advance to citizens for any potential increased noise and requests understanding, as these activities are necessary for maintaining safety.
Rafale – a symbol of technological advancement
The Rafale aircraft, which have recently become part of the Croatian air fleet, represent a significant technological advancement compared to the previous MiG-21 aircraft. In addition to providing superiority in the air, the acquisition of these aircraft has strengthened Croatia's cooperation with NATO and key international partners. Croatian pilots, who have undergone intensive training in France, are now ready to use these aircraft to their full capacity, including for nighttime missions.
The Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Croatia emphasizes that all flight activities are conducted in strictly designated zones, in accordance with international and domestic airspace security laws. During the upcoming period, citizens will have the opportunity to see and hear Rafale aircraft over their areas, all to ensure national security and stability.
Despite the increased noise caused by these exercises, it is important to note that such activities are crucial for maintaining operational readiness and protecting Croatian airspace. Croatian pilots, now fully trained to operate Rafale aircraft, are taking the first step towards modernizing the Croatian Air Force.
For additional information about these activities and the exact flight times, the Ministry of Defense will provide timely updates through official channels, and citizens are encouraged to follow these updates to stay informed about any changes in the schedule.
