The police officers of the Zagreb police department have completed an extensive criminal investigation targeting two men, aged 31 and 35, suspected of serious drug-related crimes. According to the investigation, it is believed that the suspects acquired large quantities of cocaine and marijuana in an unspecified manner. After acquisition, they concealed, weighed, and repackaged the drugs in two apartments - one where they reside in the Stenjevec area, and another which they occasionally use in Črnomerec. It is suspected that these narcotic substances were then sold on the black market.
Searches conducted by the police officers in the aforementioned apartments yielded a total of 595.6 grams of marijuana, distributed in 15 packages, along with digital scales used for precise measurement. It was particularly noted that both apartments showed clear signs of being used for preparing drugs for further distribution, and other items related to illegal activities were also found.
In addition to the apartments, the police also searched the vehicle used by the suspects. An additional amount of marijuana, totaling 345.4 grams, was found in a large bag, as well as a significant amount of cash suspected to be earned from illegal drug sales.
This case reflects a broader problem associated with drug production and trafficking in the Zagreb area and beyond. Increasingly, police investigations result in the discovery of not only narcotic drugs but also sophisticated laboratories for growing cannabis. A recent case where a laboratory was found in the Samobor area shows that organized crime is increasingly shifting towards sophisticated methods of growing and processing drugs. In that case, the police officers found specialized equipment for growing marijuana, including devices for emitting light, ventilation, and air filtration, which allows for creating optimal conditions for growing plants used in marijuana production. These findings further complicate the fight against organized crime and require even greater attention and resources from the police.
After the investigation was completed, the suspects were handed over to the detention supervisor, and a criminal complaint was filed against them with the Municipal State Attorney's Office in Novi Zagreb. The detention and filing of the criminal complaint against the suspects initiate further proceedings before the competent institutions that will work on clarifying all circumstances of this case. Meanwhile, the Zagreb police continue with intensive efforts to combat criminal activities related to drugs.
