The National Center for Coordination of Maritime Search and Rescue (MRCC Rijeka) informed the Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure about maritime accidents, incidents, and rescue operations for crews and vessels in distress due to bad weather at sea from Istria and Kvarner to the Dubrovnik archipelago.
LK Senj / search for missing person on SUP and five kayakers in strong bora
The most demanding operation was concluded with the discovery of the fifth missing kayaker in the Senj archipelago. The operation was initiated after a report at 18:57 about the disappearance of five kayakers, Hungarian citizens, due to strong gusts of bora and adverse weather conditions. The search was conducted with the involvement of the Senj Harbor Master's Office, the Rab Harbor Master's Office branch, the Zadar and Rijeka maritime and airport police stations, and the Croatian Coast Guard.
By 21:26 last night, four kayakers were rescued in the area of Goli otok and were preventively examined in Rab. Communication with the fifth kayaker was established at 23:43, confirming he was uninjured and supplied with food and water. He was advised to seek shelter until evacuation at 06:00 in the morning at Cape Markonj. Police officers disembarked him uninjured in Lukovo Otočko.
LK Senj and ILK Karlobag / recreational SUP paddler carried away by strong bora gusts
Officers from the Senj Harbor Master's Office and the Karlobag Harbor Master's Office branch searched for a missing Pole who set off paddling on a SUP board around 15:30. The operation was initiated immediately after a report from family members, after which the Pole swam to Metajna on Pag island, uninjured, concluding the operation.
LK Zadar / two people on an inflatable mattress blown away by bora
MRCC Rijeka and the Zadar Harbor Master's Office coordinated the rescue operation for two people on an inflatable mattress blown by bora to the southern side of Pašman island. They were found at 15:40 on the rocks of Cape Gnalić and evacuated uninjured from the cliff. A Czech citizen and a Polish citizen were transported to the beach in Pakoštane.
LK Dubrovnik / stranded sailboat with 11 crew members, including children
The crew of a stranded sailboat was rescued near Lastovo. On the night of July 3 at 03:25, a call was received from the skipper of the stranded sailboat with 11 crew members, all Polish citizens. A coordinated rescue operation was launched in cooperation with the Dubrovnik Harbor Master's Office, the Lastovo Harbor Master's Office branch, and a commercial rescue service company. Nine crew members were evacuated at 05:33, while two remained on the sailboat to prepare for refloating.
LK Šibenik / four MEDICO operations
Officers from the Šibenik Harbor Master's Office carried out four urgent medical evacuations of patients from islands in the Šibenik archipelago.
ILK Cres / MEDEVAC of injured person from inaccessible part of Cres island coast
MRCC Rijeka received a request yesterday, July 2 at 11:14, for the evacuation of an injured person from Sv. Blaž beach on Cres island. Due to difficult land access, boats from the local fish farm and PPAP Rijeka were engaged. The patient was transferred to a police boat and transported to Cres, where HMP Cres staff took over.

MRCC Rijeka received dozens of calls due to bad weather at sea. Officers coordinated assistance in almost all areas of navigation safety supervision.
Appeal to boaters, recreational sea users, and swimmers
All relevant services of the Directorate of Navigation Safety, the Ministry of the Sea, Transport, and Infrastructure appeal to boaters, recreational sea users, and swimmers to regularly follow weather forecasts and adhere to navigation safety rules. Swimmers are advised to swim only in designated and safe swimming areas.
